OMNISECURE 2019 – the next conference for smart identity solutions will take place in Berlin from 21st to 23rd January

Around 350 delegates will be participating in the 26th annual conference, which takes place under the patronage of the Federal Ministry of the Interior. The topics will include digital payment, blockchain, digital Europe, connected living, the digital economy and digital citizens.

On the eve of the conference (21st Jan.) delegates from the fields of industry, politics, research and public administration meet up for their first networking event. This is an evening when experts engage in an intensive exchange of ideas. A selection of start-ups will give short pitches with innovative ideas..

The programme for January 2019 will be accessible here from mid-October.

At their 70th General Assembly held on 28-29 November 2017, ETSI members selected a new Board and reelected Dirk Weiler of Nokia as Chairman of the ETSI Board.
Dirk has held various ETSI leadership positions during the last decade. He has chaired the ETSI IPR Special Committee since 2008 and has been Chairman of the Board since 2014. Dirk served as the Chairman of the ETSI General Assembly from 2010 to 2014.

The Board of SIMalliance has elected Remy Cricco (OT-Morpho) to serve as the organisation’s Chairman. In his role, he will work alongside fellow Board members representing Gemalto, G+D Mobile Security, ST Incard and VALID, to further SIMalliance’s aim: to advocate the protection of sensitive connected and mobile services to drive the deployment and remote management of such services across multiple industries and use cases, including the Internet of Things (IoT).

GlobalPlatform has announced its Board of Directors for fiscal year 2017. Six Board seats were open in the election and an extremely close voting process resulted in each of the following individuals being appointed to serve a two-year term:

  • Marc Kekicheff – Senior Director of Chip Innovation at Visa Inc. Marc retains his position as GlobalPlatform Chairman for the seventh consecutive year.
  • Nils Gerhardt – Group Vice President with global product responsibility for financial institutions at Giesecke & Devrient. Nils retains his role of Vice Chair.
  • Christophe Colas – Senior Vice President Products at Trustonic (re-elected).
  • Mark Lipford – Director Global Standards & Ecosystem Development at Sprint (newly elected).
  • Eikazu Niwano – Producer in the R&D Planning Department at NTT Corporation (re-elected). · Jeremy O’Donoghue – Principal Engineer / Manager at Qualcomm Inc (newly elected).

The Board of SIMalliance, the non-profit industry association which simplifies aspects of hardware device security to facilitate mobile services, has re-elected Hervé Pierre, to serve a third term as its Chairman. In this position, Hervé will continue to work alongside fellow Board representatives from Giesecke & Devrient, Oberthur Technologies, Safran Identity & Security, ST Incard and VALID, to promote the essential role of a dedicated tamper resistant module in delivering secure mobile applications and services across all devices that can access wireless networks.

Stephanie El Rhomri, Vice President of Technology at FIME, has been elected to the Board of GlobalPlatform, the industry body which standardizes the management of applications on secure chip technology. Stephanie will serve at least two years on the Board, which oversees the association’s future priorities, strategy and operational management. This group also provides final approval of the organization’s key outputs, such as specification changes, and controls its budgets. Over recent years, GlobalPlatform has established secure element (SE) and trusted execution environment (TEE) functional compliance testing programs, and its recently launched TEE Security Certification Scheme will be a key priority in 2016.
