Eurosmart announced the 2016 figures for worldwide secure element shipments and the corresponding 2017 forecasts. The overall growth trend remained unchanged in 2016 and Eurosmart forecasts place the total volume of secure elements to be shipped in 2017 at close to 10 billion.
FIME today announces that it has been approved by PayCert to perform a full spectrum of testing services in line with PURE specification. The latest approval enables terminal, card and cloud-based application vendors to ensure the interoperability, functionality and security of their PURE solutions quickly and efficiently. FIME has already successfully completed the evaluation of the first PURE terminal product and the first Certification Letter has been issued by PayCert.
Gemalto is partnering with Veridos to supply contactless eIDs to the Macao Special Administrative Region Government (Macao SAR Government). Under the collaboration, Gemalto is the subcontractor responsible for providing the physical cards, enhanced with security features and seamlessly incorporating Veridos' operating system software solution. The partnership will ensure a steady and consistent supply of smart eID cards to the government.
National Police Board of Finland and Gemalto win leading industry award for new ePassports and eID cards
The National Police Board of Finland and Gemalto have been announced as joint winners of the 2017 Award for Best Regional ID Document, reflecting their successful collaboration on the creation of the Nordic country's latest ePassport and eID card. The presentation was made by Reconnaissance, organizers of the High Security Printing EMEA Conference on March 29 in a special ceremony that rewards best practice and security design in the identity document industry.
FIME and Barnes’ joint personalization validation tool meets latest Mastercard PVT qualification requirements
FIME and Barnes International today announce that their jointly-developed personalization validation tool (PVT) has been qualified against the latest Mastercard PVT requirements, version 10.1 (Release 2017-1). FIME believes that the PVT significantly accelerates the certification and launch of secure chip products, for issuers, card manufacturers and personalization bureaus. These products include contact, contactless and dual interface EMV® cards, as well as near field communication (NFC) and contactless-enabled solutions such as smartphones and wearable devices.
Gemalto and IER1, a leading designer of solutions that improve the flow of goods and people, have teamed up to create Gemalto and IER Fly to Gate, an end-to-end self-service airport experience for travellers. Airport travel is booming; in 2016, there were 3.8 billion passengers and the International Air Transport Association (IATA1) expects this to double by 2035. This means that the industry and authorities will need to deploy automated solutions to optimize the flow of passengers while guaranteeing stringent security.
