OMNISECURE 2019 – the next conference for smart identity solutions will take place in Berlin from 21st to 23rd January

Around 350 delegates will be participating in the 26th annual conference, which takes place under the patronage of the Federal Ministry of the Interior. The topics will include digital payment, blockchain, digital Europe, connected living, the digital economy and digital citizens.

On the eve of the conference (21st Jan.) delegates from the fields of industry, politics, research and public administration meet up for their first networking event. This is an evening when experts engage in an intensive exchange of ideas. A selection of start-ups will give short pitches with innovative ideas..

The Smart Card Alliance announced its new board and seven-member executive committee to lead and provide guidance for the organization’s education programs, market research, advocacy, industry relations and events for 2015-2016.

“The smart card technology industry is rapidly expanding, both in existing and emerging markets, putting education and coordination across the industry in high demand. The Alliance is working hard to meet these needs by providing leadership to expand the industry even further,” said Randy Vanderhoof, executive director of the Smart Card Alliance. “Our executive leadership will play a significant part in this by guiding our membership and industry councils on collaboration, strategy, education, outreach activities and events.”

Morpho (Safran) announced the appointment of Olivier Méaux as Executive Vice President of its Digital Security and Authentication division. He replaces Jacques Pantin, who has been named special advisor in charge of cybersecurity. Olivier Méaux holds degrees from Ecole Polytechnique (1985) and Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées (1991) engineering schools. He started his career with the bank BNP Paribas in New York. In 1995, he was named Vice President of Digital Systems and Services at Thomson Multimédia. Three years later he was appointed Vice President, Business Development and Telecommunications by the French television network, France 2. He joined Orange in 2002, holding successive management positions in sales and business development, with a particular focus on digital services. In 2013, he moved to Sopra-Steria as Managing Director of the Telecom and Media division.

EMVCo, the global technical body that facilitates the worldwide interoperability and acceptance of secure payment transactions by managing and evolving the EMV® Specifications and related testing processes, has announced the appointment of Bastien Latgé to the newly created role of EMVCo Director of Technology.

In the past decade, advances in the global payments landscape have caused the migration of payments technology across multiple channels. In the same time period, EMVCo has seen its scope expand beyond the original EMV Chip Specification to encompass more recent priorities including 3D Secure 2.0 and payment tokenisation. EMVCo’s Director of Technology will play a key role in ensuring optimal coordination and alignment across all of the organisation’s technical activities, which, as a result of these evolutions, now span multiple aspects of the payments infrastructure.
